Bishops Croft
Bishops Croft is a spacious counrty house with a homely feel. The house is set in a small village in East Sussex called Robertsbridge. It has a lovely big garden and separate workshop set in the grounds. Bishops Croft is registered for 8 young adults.
In February 2009 the semi independant unit was opened at Bishops Croft. This is a seperate building, but only a couple of steps from the main house. It is supported by the staff from Bishops Croft and acommodates one young man who has lived at our service since January 1999.
There is a very committed staff team of mixed ages and giving us a great variety of both youth and experience. One of our night staff started at the home on its opening.
Being in the village we have some lovely country walks, and the service users are accepted as part of the village community and have made some good friends.
At Bishops Croft staff and service users take pride in their home.
The day services workshop is a combination of using outside agencies, such as leisure centres for swimming, gym, Trampolining, badminton etc as well as pottery, horticultural projects, dance and drama and college. In house we have arts and crafts, sewing, embroidery, woodwork and use of computers.

Joan Davies was appointed Acting Manager on 14th September 2009. She was approved as the Registered Manager by the Care Quality Commission on the 8th February 2010. Joan is no stranger to anyone at Bishops Croft, or indeed, the other New Directions homes. This is because Joan has been working as a senior on a bank basis since New Directions opened Bishops Croft in 1998.
Joan already had experience of people with Prader Willi Syndrome before New Directions opened Bishops Croft, having worked for another local organisation which runs a tea room in Rye together with residential facilities and a Rare Breeds Centre and at that time catered for two people with PWS, one of whom now lives at Bishops Croft.
Furthermore, Joan is of course, for those people who don’t know, married to our very own Operations Manager, Dave Davies.
