Who We Are

New Directions is a specialist provider for adults with Prader-Willi Syndrome.  The first specialist home was opened in September 1998.  New Directions currently runs four residential services, the latest  of which was opened on 1st September 2008.  In February 2009, a semi independent Villa was opened in the grounds of our home, Bishops Croft, in Robertsbridge.  This is separate from the main house, but only a couple of steps away and is fully supported by the trained staff in the home.

We are specialist homes and do not cater for residents who do not have the syndrome,  All homes are small in size and cater for between 4 and 8 persons.

All service users have individual care plans with goals and targets and we are working toward greater personalisation and person centred approaches.

There are integrated day services at each venue, some of the activities are on-site, others in the community but supported by the home staff.   We have a commitment to giving as many opportunities as possible to the service users, and have managed to secure a high number of work experience placements.

Staff training is of paramount importance, and regular sessions are held covering all aspects of care including training in the syndrome.  In 2009, New Directions opened a new training room to accommodate the training requirements of our large staff team, which is now 75 in number.
