HI SNOW HI SNOW…ITS OFF TO WORK WE GO…….

Hi snow hi snow…its off to work we go……with a smile and a cheer…..will later have a beer…hi snow hi snow  hi snow hi snow  hi snow….some say why do we do it? you must be silly…….we do because our guys have Prader Willi……

The worst snow in Hastings history for many a long year. All homes are staffed at usual or near usual levels. Some staff are unable to get in due to, distance of travel, no public transport or taxi’s trains suspended or only slight service. Staff have stayed overnight others are planning to do so tonight.

The dedication of the staff team is fantastic. On may way to work I (David Palmer ) living close to the local hospital met many hospital worker making their way in. One I and others had to assist in abandoning her car half way up a hill half a mile from the hospital. I hope all the elderly and vulnerable, who may live alone, that rely on home care visits receive the care and input required.

ANOTHER WORK PLACEMENT OPPORTUNITY

We have just discussed a work based opportunity with a local engineering firm in Hastings. This could develop into work experience placements for a number of our residents.

Some of the residents and David are attending the firm next week as an introduction and an interview.  We will update you with the developments as they occur.

LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW LET IT SNOW

After escaping much of the snow that has hit most of the country Hastings was hit with a vengeance last night. The message from the staff at the homes, as all homes had 100% attendance for the 7 o’clock shift, was let it snow let it snow let it snow.  Two night workers were unable to make their destinations due to travel distance and severe adverse weather conditions. These were filled by staff living closer to the home.

What a wonderful staff we have. We do appreciate the efforts and sacrifices they make.
