Bishops Lodge Table Sale

Here in Hastings, Bishops Lodge of New Directions have been making cards, jewellery, magnets, mosaic pots, scoop pens, bookmarks and potting up plants in preparation for a table top sale to raise money for day service activities and equipment.

On the 3rd and 4th July it was time to roll up and get your bargains.

All Service users were enthusiastic and got involved in selling the goods over the two days.

Our day service coordinator, Kim was busy the week before organising the venue, advertising the sae and selling items before the event even happened!

Lots was sold over the two days and people were very generous and said to “keep the change”. In total we raised over £100.

Thank you to all the staff who helped and a special big thank you to Kim and Mandy who without their help this project would not have happened.

Gayle and David went to Derby for the Homes Forum Meeting on Tuesday 6th July. Gayle had been asked to give a presentation on the care givers section of the conference in Taiwan and following this, Jackie Waters gave feedbackon the scientific part of that conference.

On the agenda for this meeting there was an item ‘award OCN certificates’ David and Gayle had both achieved the required standard to have passed this OCN Module on Prader-Willi Syndrome. This was a pilot for the course and we hope it will not be too much longer before this can be rolled out to staff members at New Directions and other providers for people with Prader-Willi Syndrome.
