General News from Bishops Way!

Jenny’s birthday came and went, her helium balloons were still flying proudly in the lounge until yesterday!!!

The Day Services trip to Brighton and the Sea Life Centre was a great success, even the weather was on our side for once, as you can see from the photos, we are not too sure what Claire’s fella will have to say about her apparent ‘bigamy’ though………

They have announced the date for Simon’s Active Arts production, it will be on the evening of Friday 9th July at the Phoenix Arts Centre in Hastings. Anyone interested in tickets, please let us know (they do have a licensed bar there if it helps you to decide!).

That’s about it for now, the holidays start next week, so more news and pictures will follow soon.

Thank you Vincent from JS Fire Protection

In early March I had surgery on my foot, I returned to work a couple of weeks later. I felt fine and the surgery was healing very well. During mid April I did not feel 100% thought I had a bit of a chest infection. On Friday 30th April I was having a poets day leaving work at 3pm. I left the office travelled the 3 flights of stairs to the ground floor at Bishops Corner. I felt unwell with breathlessness and chest pains. I was asked if I was alright to which I said yes just need to get my breath back. A contractor from JS Fire Protection was checking our alarm system. He had seen me a few months previous took one look at me and phoned an ambulance. I had multiple blood clots on both lungs and had to spend 8 days in hospital. Thank you Vincent you are a life saver.

International Conference - Taiwan

We are pleased to let you all know that New Directions will be represented in Taiwan at next weeks international conference.

Unfortunately, Gayle will be travelling on her own to Taiwan. The original plan was that Gayle and David Palmer would both attend however, his recent health difficulties he is unable to attend.

Gayle has been asked to take lots of pictures and we will be putting these on the website on her return along with news from the conference (We are not sending Gayle on a Jolly! and we want proof that she has done some work!)

Update on David P’s health!

Last Friday 30th April David was taken ill at work and ended at the local hospital. To his horror, he was kept in overnight. This has turned out to be a one week stay. We’re pleased to say David has made a great recovery, is being discharged from hospital this afternoon and will be back at work on Monday.
