Great British Care Awards

Christine Palmer, Deputy Manager at Bishops Croft, was nominated by the company for the Care Home Worker Award in March. We have just heard that Christine has achieved 1st Place in the regional finals in the South East.  Christine has worked for New Directions since July 2003.

On 5th May 2010, Christine will be travelling to London for her interview for the National finals. We all wish Christine the best of luck and believe that she totally deserves this award.

Good Luck Christine!

Get Well Soon David!

David Palmer went into hospital on 4th March for an operation on his foot. He was discharged the following day and is now at home recovering (with his feet up).

We have all missed having David around and wish him a speedy and full recovery.

GET WELL SOON DAVID!!

New Directions’ fun at the farm!

Today was the first day of New Directions new work placement at Green Oak farm, which is part of Plumpton College.

Nick from Bishops Croft and Paula from Bishops Corner were the first 2 Service Users to try this new placement. Their first job of the day was to feed the chickens and they learnt how much to feed each chicken e.g. one handful of seed per chicken.

The main task of the day was to sieve compost and plant their own seeds which were a selection of sweet peas. They planted 22 pots of seeds between them and as they went they learnt about the different varieties of sweet peas and labelled and dated them.

All in all their first day at the farm was a success and they enjoyed very much. Thank you to Sarah at Green Oak farm for giving our Service Users this opportunity to experience farm work.
