Rab Butler was one of the few British politicians to have served in the three posts of Chancellor of the Exchequer, Home Secretary and Foreign Secretary, although he was passed over for the Premiership on two occasions. He died in 1982

Lady Butler, who had four sons and two daughters and was a great-grandmother, died peacefully at her home in Great Yeldham yesterday (Wednesday February 18).

Her funeral service will be held at St Mary’s Church, Saffron Walden on Wednesday March 4 at 2pm.

The Villa

On Thursday 12th February, our first semi-independent unit named ‘The Villa’ was occupied by Nick, who has lived at Bishops Croft for 10 years. He is extremely excited about the move and is settling well into the luxurious surroundings. The construction works took approximately 3 months causing one or two problems along the way, which included the workmen severing an electricity cable leaving Bishops Croft without power for a period of 15 hours coming back on in the early hours of the morning. All the residents at Bishops Croft coped with this very well as the power was cut half way through cooking the main meal.
