Bishops Corner News

It is all hectic at Bishops Corner this week, as a new kitchen is being fitted. Despite the disruption all the guys have coped well with the changes that have had to be made to the eating arrangements.

Bishops Corner’s holidays are booked for beginning of march Holland and Norfolk are the destinations. Everyone is looking forward to this.

Emma, Barrie Ryan all have jobs in the community and go independently, more information on what they do, in later articles.

Bishops Waheyyy!

Since opening in September 2008 Bishops Way has gone from strength to strength.  Our residents have, even in such a short period of time, achieved and surpassed several personal goals. For example one young man has lost a total of 81 pounds in weight so far, two have enrolled at College and all were able to enjoy a break at Christmas with their respective families.

We have a new full time Day Services Co-ordinator, who is expanding and developing the project work and activities on offer, as well as establishing a data base of information from which the residents will select preferred venues for the Day Services outings.

As we are such a new service, it has taken time for everyone to get to know each other and accept that we are all different, but good communication and support has gone a long way to ease this process. We will continue to do this as and when people come and go.

CSCI star rating

Bishops Lodge had a CSCI inspection in November 2008. We have just received our report and are delighted to announce that the home has been upgraded from ‘good’ to ‘excellent’ (from 2 star to 3 star).

The company director and senior management team pass their congratulations and thanks to the home manager and her staff team for the hard work and dedication which has resulted in this star rating.

Happy Birthday Bishops Lodge

Bishops Lodge celebrated its ‘4th Birthday’ on the 15th December 2008. This was marked by a residents theme night, which was a home cooked indian meal that was throughly enjoyed by all.

In the four years that Bishops Lodge has been open a total of 46 stone has been lost between the 6 service users.

Mandy and her team welcomed a new service user to Bishops Lodge in October 08, she has already acheived significant weight loss and is enjoying her placement at Bihsops Lodge and is an asset to the home and has made new friends within New Directions and the local community.
